Link PAN with Aadhaar Online

Linking your Permanent Account Number (PAN) with your Aadhaar card is a mandatory requirement set by the Income Tax Department of India. Failure to do so renders your PAN inoperative.

Step 1: Pay the ₹1,000 Penalty Fee

Since the deadline has passed, a late fee is applicable before linking.

  1. Visit the Income Tax e-Filing Portal: incometax.gov.in
  2. Click on 'e-Pay Tax' under 'Quick Links'.
  3. Enter your PAN, confirm it, and enter your mobile number for OTP.
  4. After OTP verification, select the 'Income Tax' tile and proceed.
  5. Select Assessment Year (current) and Type of Payment as 'Other Receipts (500)'.
  6. The amount of ₹1,000 will be auto-populated. Proceed to make the payment via Net Banking, Debit Card, or UPI.

Step 2: Submit the Link Request

Wait 2-4 days after payment if it doesn't reflect immediately, then proceed:

Link Aadhaar

Go back to the e-Filing homepage and click on 'Link Aadhaar' in the Quick Links section. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number and click 'Validate'. If your payment is verified, you can enter your name as per Aadhaar, provide an OTP, and your linking request will go to UIDAI for validation.
